Pysgodlyn Mawr Deforestation

Pysgodlyn Mawr is a location I’ve had the pleasure to walk around several times. My first trip here was with another photographer where we undertook the circular walk that leaves the bank of Pysgodlyn Mawr and around into the forest. I remember the trees being huge and they reminded me of the mighty Redwood trees over in America. Even on the hottest of days, under the canopy it was sheltered from the sun, it was dark and the forest floor felt damp, spongy and the air cool. Over the years I came back here with my family as it grew and have fond memories of the forest and exploring the cool area. It wasn’t until my latest trip here did I find this to be no more. The area had been felled, cut down, destroyed. It was heart breaking to see how a once stunning natural location where nature thrived and people came to enjoy had been eradicated. As a citizen of our Earth and a lover of nature I felt a personal feeling of loss as I walked the area documenting the space.
