One thing you notice when you spend time within the Cardiff Bay / Bute area is how different the spaces are, even though they’re next to one another. This goes for the buildings. Once grand buildings that played a part in past Welsh economy and heritage now are left abandoned, neglected and in a state of soon to be disrepair. That’s one side of James Street. On the other side where tourism is the new industry, new swanky buildings have been built, large well maintained open spaces have opened up as well as commercial outlets. One of those new buildings is Techniquest which this image is of. For me the blue represents the old, the old heritage and industry that once overwhelmed the area. The golden line, a path, one that cuts through the blue, splitting it into two is like the new touristic area that separates and interjects the sea to Bute.
